How This Blog Was Made

All technology blogs have a legal obligation to make an initial post describing how the website was made (or at least, it appears that way), so here's mine.

Zine

This blog was made using Zine, a new static site generator written in Zig. I don't really have a reference to compare against, but I have enjoyed using Zine. It is quite fast and supports a hot-reloading website preview. I like SuperMD, SuperHTML, and Scripty.

However, it is very clear why Zine is described as "alpha software": error messages are cryptic, documentation is good, but at times incomplete, and there are still a few missing features (for example, Zine can't tell what CSS files are being used so the user has to add them to static_assets in build.zig).

Cloudflare Pages

The blog is a purely static website, so I decided to serve it on Cloudflare Pages because of their generous free tier. I also use Cloudflare as my domain registrar, and it's nice to have everything in one place. Everything was easy to use and I have no complaints.
